The Kansas City Royals acquired Emilio Bonifacio from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash or a player to be named later Wednesday, giving them a versatile player capable of providing depth in their banged-up infield. Third baseman Mike Moustakas remained out of the Royals lineup with a strained left calf for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Fellow infielder Miguel Tejada, who had been playing second and third quite regularly, went on the disabled list Sunday with a strained right calf. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to clear space on the 40-man roster for Bonifacio, who is expected to join the Royals for their five-game set against Detroit that starts Thursday. The Royals will have to make a move to their 25-man roster at that time. Bonifacio, whose younger brother Jorge is in the Royals' minor league system, was traded to the Blue Jays from the Marlins last offseason.
