DeidrePujols gives birth to daughter

Albert Pujols summer just got a little bit better. Pujols wife Deidre gave birth to the couples fifth child, a daughter, at 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, the Angels announced. Daughter Esther Grace weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 19 inches long. Pujols attended the birth, which followed the Angels 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals and was back at the ballpark in time for...

Royals 3, Angels 2

Angels' bullpen bounces back after ugly defeat

There has been a certain Russian-roulette quality to the Los Angeles Angels' bullpen this season. On Saturday night, manager Mike Scioscia made what he thought was the right decision, pulling starter Zack Greinke from the game two outs short of a shutout. Closer Ernesto Frieri came in and gave up back-to-back homers as the Kansas City Royals rallied for a stinging, walk-off...

Kansas City Royals in need of a new window cleaner

Does this tough economy have you feeling down? Are you looking for a job with a MLB franchise that is quite literally head and shoulders "above the rest". Then look no further than the newest job opening in the Kansas City Royals organization. The Royals are seeking to find a qualified candidate to fill their vacant window cleaning position. Here...

Projecting the Royals Pitcher and Player of the Year

Each year, not matter how dreadful it is, a player and pitcher of the year is named by the Kansas City Royals. While it’s far from a scientific process, I thought it would be fun to try to project who will win that award in 2012. Now I want to be clear, this is not who should win the award. As is the case with most things the Royals do, what should happen and what will happen...

Game Recap 9/14/12 -- Wild Nights in KC -- Angels 9 Royals 7

I remember as a kid it seemed a lot of Angels season's died in mid August in Kansas City. The Halos would be clinging to faint playoff hopes only to see them dashed in hot summer nights in the midwest. Weird games always happen in KC with the Angels usually ending up on the wrong side of the weirdness. Tonight the Halos visit Kansas City for a crucial three game series. With...

How Trumbo can get his groove back

Roller coasters are supposed to be fun. Their steel structures stand tall against the backdrop of the sky, and as they barrel down their pre-determined course, one can hear children screaming in delight through ups, downs, loops, switches and unexpected twists and turns. Playoff race roller coasters are not so fun. It’s easy to be pessimistic and write off the Angels...

Trumbo's bat important to Angels' chances

Mark Trumbo needed Sunday's game as badly as the Angels did. Trumbo needed it to wipe away the memory of a debilitating slump, one that has threatened to ruin his All-Star season. The Angels needed it to wipe away the memory of Saturday night. In baseball, a short memory is important. One bad game lasts only until the next game starts. A slump can be put to rest with a game...

Angels 4, Royals 3

Mark Trumbo hit a three-run homer and Dan Haren pitched effectively into the sixth inning as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Kansas City Royals 4-3 on Sunday. Trumbo, who had hit just .177 with 62 strikeouts in his previous 37 games to drop his average from .306 to .268, homered off Will Smith (5-8) in the second inning. Haren (11-11) improved to 3-1 in his past four starts, holding...

Zack Greinke is still Brewers’ No. 2 starter

I haven’t paid much attention to baseball in the last month or so, because that’s what happens when you’re a Cubs fan. However, I have watched enough games this season to realize the Milwaukee Brewers ascension up the standings came out of nowhere. Suddenly a team that was just a notch better than the Astros and Cubs in July is in the midst of the wild-card race. Considering...

Magic Numbers

The Royals still have some things to play for. Can the Royals still win the Central Division? Good sense would tell you it’s not worth checking the standings. Could they somehow win a wildcard spot? Even less of a chance. How about finishing .500? It would take a historic tear for that to happen. So is there any number of wins worth rooting for? Any standard for the team to try...

Game Recap 9/15/12 -- Gut Shot -- Angels 2 Royals 3

This being a family website I will try to refrain from swearing in a long, comma laden string of profanity over tonight's game. If the Angels don't make the playoffs there will be a lot of reasons why. The terrible start highlighted by Albert Pujols worst month as a professional ballplayer. The inconsistent seasons by the vaunted starting rotation. The stubborn refusal...
