news.yahoo.com:
Apparently nobody in America wants to take over as manager for the Kansas City Royals, so the club had to search Japan for someone to fill the vacancy.
The choice: Trey Hillman. He's been successful in the minors and in Japan. He has no experience in the majors at all ? playing or coaching. But his Nippon Ham Fighters are playing in the Japan Series for the second consecutive year, and he earned manager of the year three times in his 13 seasons in the minor leagues.
Despite the success on other levels, this is definitely a big gamble. But I guess the job's so crappy that the Royals had to stretch halfway across the globe to get someone to take it.
