Pro Sports Daily:
Free agent relief pitcher Mike Adams agreed to a two-year, $12-million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, ESPN.com reported Saturday. The deal is pending a physical exam. An option for a third year becomes guaranteed if Adams makes at least 120 appearances, including 60 or more in 2014, in the first two years. Adams went 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 61 appearances for the Texas Rangers this year. Adams, 34, is recovering from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, a condition that causes pain in the neck and shoulder and can affect how a pitcher grips the ball. He is expected to make a full recovery from corrective surgery and be ready for spring training. The Phillies are looking for a top eighth-inning reliever to set up closer Jonathan Papelbon. Philadelphia lost 16 games this year when leading in the seventh inning or later. In the past three years, Adams led all set-up men in holds with 97 and his 2.06 ERA in that span was second to Atlanta's Eric O'Flaherty among reliev...

I love the Phillies because it is common conversation in my family growing up. One more thing to build a stronger family around. They also provided me with a topic for soda tab chain mail that I made. Which can be seen if you goggle “3000 soda tab Phillies jersey“.

For the second offseason in a row, the Angels pulled off a stunner by signing the biggest free agent bat on the market, all without so much as a whisper indicating they were in on the negotiations. Yu Darvish’s Improvement
In the wake of Daisuke Matsuzaka‘s failing foray into Major League Baseball, many were skeptical of Darvish’s prospects with the Rangers (despite their very different pitching styles). After year one, I feel very much at ease. Darvish was durable, tossing 191.1 innings last year over 29 starts, a rate that would have put him at 217.2 innings for a full...
