The Indians have been looking to upgrade their outfield and one of the options they considered is Nick Swisher, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
A trade of Swisher seems very unlikely this offseason though. The biggest problem is that it would be hard to get a return on Swish that would make it worth trading him. They might consider a deal for Fausto Carmona or Justin Masterson, but neither would be much of a rotation upgrade that it would be worth dealing Swisher and then turning around and searching for his replacement.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that teams are interested in Swisher either, but again it’s going to be hard to find a trade scenario that would make both teams happy. Especially now that Carlos Beltran, who signed with the Cardinals, is off the market, the Yankees would have to surrender prospects to find his replacement anyway. Why not just cut out the middleman and deal the prospects for pitching? Exactly.

The New York Yankees had a hefty $13.9 million luxury tax bill Thursday, their lowest since 2003.

According to the collective bargaining agreement, checks to pay the tax must be sent to the commissioner’s office...
