TEAMS: Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets
According to Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers are expected to keep on spending this off-season, beginning with Zack Greinke.
The Dodgers, also could add arguably the second-most attractive free-agent pitcher, righty Anibal Sanchez, in a dual investment that could approach $250 million.
At the moment, the Dodgers also are negotiating with another starter, Korean lefty Ryu Hyun-Jin. The deadline to sign him is Sunday. If the Dodgers fail to complete a deal, they will not pay a $25.7 million posting fee to his Korean team.
That would be $25.7 million more for the Dodgers to redirect to free-agent starters, or perhaps an expensive pitcher whom they might acquire in a trade.
The Dodgers, sources say, have talked to the Mets about NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey.
As many insiders have said, once the Greinke signing is official the Mets may find themselves in the driver seat for a compatible Dickey trade that will fill their needs...

The Los Angeles Dodgers can’t seem to catch a break so far this winter as they are still awaiting on Zack Greinke‘s decision. The Dodgers are willing to pony up a record setting amount of money to make Grienke the richest pitcher in baseball, however, it doesn’t seem like Greinke wants to pitch...

What's next for the post-Greinke Angels?
Well that was an exciting yet ultimately disappointing Winter Meetings, wasn't it? Sure the Angels made a few moves and more or less locked in their roster for the season, but they kind of forgot to bring in that one big piece that was going to make it all worthwhile, that would be a Mr. Zack Greinke.
Maybe I'm being presumptive, but with the money and roster spot they...
Zack Greinke Rumors: Rangers Now Favorite?
There is a growing sense in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization
that free agent right-hander Zack Greinke is going to wind up signing with the
Texas Rangers, reports Scott Miller of CBS Sports.
Growing feeling among #Dodgers people that Greinke may wind up w/ #Rangers. Reasoning: If he really wanted LA, could have signed by now

Angels moving on without Greinke
NASHVILLE Jerry Dipoto will never say never, because an opportunity might arise or Angels owner Arte Moreno might hand him the equivalent of a blank check to pursue a player like he did with Albert Pujols last winter.
But based on the general manager's actions over the past 10 days and his comments as he left the winter meetings Thursday, it is clear that pitcher Zack Greinke...
Rangers pursuing Hamilton, Greinke
At this point, it will be an upset if the Texas Rangers do not land one of the top two free agents.
Could be outfielder Josh Hamilton. Could be right-hander Zack Greinke. Could be neither, likely will not be both.
The Rangers are competing for both players, major-league sources say, while also continuing to engage in trade discussions for Arizona right fielder Justin Upton, Tampa...
Rumor Mill: Zack Greinke consensus shifts to Texas, Dee Gordon trade destinations expand
The tide has shifted completely in the Zack Greinke sweepstakes with sources now almost universally agreeing that the Rangers are the favorites.
Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi speculate that their push for Justin Upton is born out of confidence regarding Greinke.
The Rangers’ fervent push for Upton, according to one rival executive, is an indication of their confidence in landing...
2012 Winter Meetings: Everybody waits on Greinke, Dee trade talks, no Ryu progress
Credit: The LFP
The Zack Greinke saga is the story of the Winter Meetings, not only because he’s the top free agent out there, but also because he’s holding up the deals of other free agents as they’re all waiting on him.
Whatever he decides, it figures to be at least borderline historical, as Jon Heyman notes.
Strong belief by people close to situation is greinke can beat...
Making sense of Angels' pitching deals
It's difficult to like what the Los Angeles Angels have done this offseason, particularly when they seem likely to lose free-agent right-hander Zack Greinke.
I wrote recently about the different approaches of the two L.A. teams . But the Angels' starting-pitching choices may not be as illogical as they appear.
I'm not saying I like them, mind you -- right-hander Tommy...
Rangers Would Trade Olt For Dickey Id They Fail To Land Greinke
According to John Harper of the Daily News, the Texas Rangers would trade top hitting prospect Mike Olt for R.A. Dickey, but only if they first lose out on free-agent Zack Greinke AND are unable to trade for James Shields who is their top preference if they have to make a swap.
Meanwhile the Royals and Blue Jays are not that interested in Dickey and and prefer the Mets young...
A very important (not really) LA Angels Winter Meetings update
The final day of the Winter Meetings are upon us and with that comes this VERY IMPORTANT update on the Angels...
...
...the Angels have (drum roll, please) not done a damn thing.
Yep, nothing. Not one move. They haven't signed Greinke or any other starting pitcher. They haven't even brought in a semi-anonymous middle reliever to fill out the bullpen. They...
Greinke/Hamilton: Proceed with Caution
A word of advice for certain baseball general managers: When dealing with Zack Greinke and Josh Hamilton: caveat emptor – let the buyer beware. I’m speaking to you, Ned Colletti, Jon Daniels, Jerry Dipoto, Jack Zduriencik. Daniels, the Rangers GM, knows of which I speak. Hamilton has been his headache for the [...]
2012 Baseball Winter Meetings Day #3: Its the little deals that matter most
Josh Hamilton, Zack Greinke, and Justin Upton are three pieces of three monster deals that could be on verge of either getting done at any moment, or fall apart at the last minute.
That’s all fine and dandy, but there are plenty of other players, serviceable players that are available that no one talks about.
Look at Randy Choate for example. According to Jon Morosi’s...
Pursuit of Upton driving blockbuster talks
The goals of Texas and Arizona are driving talk of three- and

Report: Dodgers Wary Of Offering No-Trade Clauses to Free Agents This Offseason
It appears the Marlins aren’t the only team wary of issuing no-trade clauses this offseason.
The Los Angeles Times reports the Dodgers could be reluctant to offer that type of protection to free agents this offseason. It’s a philosophy that team president Stan Kasten embraced since his days with the Braves and Nationals.
But that position could prevent the Dodgers from luring...
