Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong is set to be part of Team USA’s roster for the upcoming 2013 World Baseball Classic in March.
CBS’ Jon Heyman broke the story on Sunday, saying Vogelsong will join other old guys R.A. Dickey and Andy Pettitte as part of the Team USA rotation. The entire roster will be officially revealed on Thursday.
Vogelsong went 14-9 with a 3.37 ERA for the Giants in 2012, in addition to going 3-0 in the club’s championship run through the post season.
If Team USA can care enough to make it to at least the semifinals, Vogelsong has a chance to pitch in his home stadium. AT&T Park in San Francisco has been chosen as the host venue for the final two rounds of the tournament.
