The next closest are Pete Kozma of the St. Louis Cardinals and A.J. Pollock of the Arizona Diamondbacks, both with 47 hits. Gyorko is also tied for second in RBI’s by a rookie with Kozma at 21. In addition, he also has the second most home runs by a rookie this year (6, all hit in May) only beaten by Evan Gattis of the Atlanta Braves (12 HR’s). Drafted by the Padres in 2010, Gyorko has spent the last three seasons rising from Single A on up to Triple A ball. In 2012 alone, he managed a .311 average with 30 HR’s in 126 games. He made his major league debut for the Padres on April 1st, 2013. His entrance was no joke. He hit a double off of New York Mets pitcher Jon Niese. In May of 2013, he tied the Padres rookie record for home runs in a month (6). In his last 10 games, he has 11 hits, 5 RBI’s, and a .256 average. Not the most stellar of perform...
