After scoring just three runs in the first two games of the series, both losses, the Padres offense showed up to beat the Giants 6-3 to avoid getting swept by the division leaders. Monday’s series opener was all San Francisco as they tagged Clayton Richard early and made fine plays in the field for an easy 7-1 victory. Tuesday game was the more familiar pitcher’s duel both teams are accustomed to with the Giants coming out on top with a walk-off 3-2 win. But they couldn’t complete the sweep as the Padres offense was overwhelming with three homers, two coming off the bat of former Giant Jesus Guzman. The Padres will continue their 10-game road trip with a three game series in Miami starting Friday against the struggling Marlins.
