The San Francisco Giants have made it clear to the MLB betting news that they want to maintain the key players that have led the franchise to two World Series titles in three seasons, and few players have been more important than Buster Posey. With the threat of arbitration in mind, the Giants have tied their star catcher down to a new one-year deal worth $8 million, rewarding Posey for the key role he played in the team’s recent successes. On last season’s evidence, Posey is more than worth that to the Giants. His exploits with the bat may have made the most headlines, but plenty of praise has also gone to the former NL Rookie of the Year for his consistency as a catcher. The 25-year old will go into his fourth season with the Giants on the back of a sensational 2012, finishing with a league-high .336 average, with 24 home runs and 103 RBIs. That form saw Posey win the National League MVP, the Silver Slugger award, MLB batting champion, among a host of other awards, and the Giants know just what a talent they have on their hands. While it may be a tough ask for the youngster to repeat last season’s achievements in 2013, you certainly wouldn’t put it past Posey being near the top of the rankings again at the end of next season. While the Giants were understandably keen to hang on to their young catcher, there would have been little reason for Posey to want to leave a San Francisco team that is quickly creating something very special. If the key players can stay relatively injury-free, then there will be plenty of people betting MLB World Series hoping that the Giants make it three World Series titles in four years. Then, we could all start talking about this being one of the great teams. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fcuzoogle.com%2F2013%2F01%2F22%2Fsan-francisco-getting-value-for-money-in-posey%2F'; addthis_title = 'San+Francisco+Getting+Value+for+Money+in+Posey'; addthis_pub = '';
