Things are really starting to heat up as the Winter Meetings get closer and closer.
One of the most active teams so far this off season, has been the San Francisco Giants.
Just two weeks after signing left handed relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt, the Giants jumped at the opportunity to grab right handed reliever Bobby Howry who became very desirable after not being offered arbitration on Tuesday.
I had actually hoped the Mets would have taken a shot at Howry who has been one of the most successful relievers over the last five years, and is among the MLB leaders in holds over that span.
Howry signed a one year deal, and with Affeldt should provide a huge boost to a bullpen that was almost as bad as the Mets.
The Giants didn't stop there...
They now appear close to signing free-agent shortstop Edgar Renteria, perhaps as early as today.
Renteria's agents, both confirmed on Wednesday that the negotiations are in the final stretch.
