Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
According to David Lennon of Newsday, Johan Santana is ahead of schedule and will face live batting practice today.
The news comes after many speculated that he will miss his opening day start on April 6th because of tightness in his elbow.
Santana threw a strong 46 pitch bullpen side session on Wed. He was slotted to throw two more sessions before facing live hitters. He was also scheduled to start on March 18th...
But since he has accelerated his progress it might not be a long shot that he will return to action earlier and it's not a long shot that he can be on the mound on April 6th in Cincinnati...
Omar Minaya was quoted by saying..., "Everything is encouraging about him."
