Last night Scott Kazmir was released by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  To say he struggled at the Major League level over the past season-plus would be a pretty significant understatement.  Guys like Scott Kazmir usually have a little extra rope to work with and usually get a few extra chances that they may not necessarily deserve.  The Los Angeles Angels were probably smart to be patient with him up to this point (it didn’t work out in the end, but hindsight is 20/20), but Kazmir provided the straw (more like cinder block) that broke the camel’s back.  In his Triple-A rehab stint, Kazmir allowed 29 ER and posted a 20 BB/14 K ratio (yes, I typed that correctly) in 15.1 innings.  If that stat line doesn’t make you want to scratch your eyeballs out I can’t think of one that will.  Again, its not even like he’s facing Josh Hamilton or Miguel Cabrera three times a game and, even then, it still wouldn’t be excusable.  This news got me thinking abo...
