Scott Kazmir faced his ex-team, the Los Angeles Angels, on Monday afternoon, and even though it’s still spring training he looks as dominant as ever.  In four innings, Kazmir gave up three hits, struck out four and walked one.  His hold on the fifth spot in the Cleveland Indians rotation has gotten tighter as his competition, Daisuke Matsuzaka, pitched a scoreless sixth but left the game in the top of the seventh with cramping in his calf.  Although control and velocity have been issues over the past couple of seasons, according to Kevin Baxter of the Los Angeles Times, his velocity has increased approximately 10 mph consistently reaching the mid-to-low 90’s. Kazmir also confirmed that in his interview on Cleveland.com which you can see here.  And between three Cactus League games and a B-game appearance, he has held opponents scoreless in 11 innings and has an eye-popping 13/2 K/BB ratio.  Devon is the Founder and Executive Director of The GM's Perspective.
