The Louisville Bats had high expectations thrown on them at the start of the season due to their roster. While the team was only at .500 or worse for a total of two days all season, the Bats struggled to really break out aside from one win streak that took them from 4 games over to 12 games over .500. From that point forward the team was in a slow, but mostly steady decline. Toward the end of the year the Bats were decimated by promotions to the Majors of Cozart, Sappelt and Alonso before losing a handful of other guys for the last few days of the season with September call ups. While the Bats did finish with a winning record at 73-71 and peaked at 12 games over .500, they were never really in the race for the division as the Columbus Clippers ran away with the division with 88 wins and actually slowed down on part of the season.
