For as good as the Mariners pitching has been this season (among tops in the majors), a trend of blow ups in the back-end of the rotation have plagued the team and added heaps of pressure on ace Felix Hernandez.
Jason Vargas has lost three consecutive games; he went from 3-3 with a 4.14 ERA, to 3-6 with a 5.08.
Garrett Olson has shown flashes of consistent MLB potential, but has been getting tattooed recently; he sports a 3-5 record with a high 5.75 ERA.
It's too early to tell, but Ian Snell has some control issues, a dark side if you will, and we saw it tonight when he lasted one and one-third innings and gave up six walks in the 10-4 beating at the hands of the defending AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays.
Brandon Morrow has been mishandled (should be Tim Lincecum I am talking about here dammit...), so far going from reliever, to closer, to starter, to who knows what.
