After a particularly frustrating series in Texas that ended with a painful loss to the Rangers, the Oakland A’s will regroup and try to get back on track this weekend against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.
Oakland headed into the four-game set with the Rangers up three games in the A.L. West, but only managed one win in the series – so they’re now 43-32, 11 games over the .500 mark and clinging to a one-game lead in the division. This weekend will provide a great opportunity to make up for the Texas series and put some distance between themselves and Texas, for a couple of key reasons:
The A’s will miss Felix Hernandez, who is 15-6 with a 2.90 ERA against the A’s in 28 career starts and has shut them out twice already this season.
The Rangers have to play an interleague series against the St. Louis Cardinals, who hold the best record in all of baseball.
