Found September 02, 2012 on Burning River Baseball:
For the first half of the season the Indians went back and forth with the White Sox for first place while the Tigers sat in third. The roles have been reversed now as the Tigers are within a game of a first place tie with Chicago while the Indians are within a single game of being tied for last in the Central with the Twins. With the first overall draft pick the only thing left to play for in 2012, it may be hard for the Indians to find motivation in this last month of the season. A couple players who won't need motivating are those already called up with the recent roster expansion. Thomas Neal and Russ Canzler have each been thrust into games, batting in the top part of the lineup and have already had some success in limited action.  September 3rd, 1:05 PM EDT: Corey Kluber, RHP, 0-3, 5.16 ERA vs Anibal Sanchez, RHP, 2-4, 5.29 ERA Corey Kluber will be making his seventh start of the season and the first not in the horrible month of August (so, it was all his fault the I...

Dunn, White Sox exit Detroit in pain

It was a close call for Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn, as the veteran was assessing which hurt more -- the strained right oblique muscle that kept him out of the Sunday night finale against the Detroit Tigers or the emotional pain of being out of the lineup. His misery increased when the White Sox lost 4-2 to the Tigers, who completed a three-game series sweep and...

White Sox quickly forget lost weekend

It's a don't-look-back, don't-look-too-far-ahead mentality for the Chicago White Sox, and it's been that way all season long, with manager Robin Ventura instilling that philosophy as far back as day one of spring training. That's why the Sox had no problem bouncing back Monday with a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins after they spent the last week going 1-6 on...

Young White Sox pitchers feel the heat

The Oakland A's are the hottest team in baseball. They look as unbeatable as they did in the movie "Moneyball," winning nine in a row and mounting a credible threat to Texas in the American League West. At 76-57, they have the same record as the mighty New York Yankees -- who outspend them 4-to-1. The Baltimore Orioles aren't fading, either. They won a weekend...

White Sox now tied wth Tigers for first place; stretch run looms

It took a sweep by the Detroit Tigers to knock the Chicago White Sox out of first place; and that’s exactly what happened. Justin Verlander won the highly anticipated match-up with Chris Sale, and the three game sweep restarts the AL Central race back at zero. Earlier in the season the Sox gave up first place to Detroit, but it was only for a day or two, as Chicago took it right...
