Here are more nuggets from the sit down session with San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy and GM Brian Sabean at Giants Media Day. I had a chance to ask Bochy who would be plan B if closer Brian Wilson can’t go at the start of the season. Bochy said you can start with Sergio Romo and Javier Lopez. He also said everyone in the bullpen can move up a spot.   “It’s nice to have a luxury of having five or six guys who aren’t afraid to pitch in that ninth inning,” said Bochy. Sabean also chimed in on their ace pitcher Tim Lincecum. “Timmy likes San Francisco. He’s been treated very well here. He’s been compensated very well along the whole way. As it turns out, I think it was a win-win to get these two years out of the way. To kind of give us a base-line for how we can go forward,” said Sabean. “Our budget can hold both Lincecum and Cain (Matt Cain), and try to get more offense in here,” said Sabean. Cain puts Bay Area home up for sale. Is writing on the wall?

Zoinks! There’s news out of the Huffington Post this morning that San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain—who is eligible to become a free agent after this season—has put his Bay Area home up for sale. Unless Cain and his family are just looking to upgrade (after all, he is getting quite the pay hike in the final year of his contract), this could very well be reason...

Position Projections: First Base

Hello again, there is not much going on for the Giants this off-season, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to start the 2012 position projections. Spring training is right around the corner and Fan Fest has come and gone. Starting with first base, these 2012 projections: Aubrey Huff  Huff, 35, is coming off a pretty lousy season with the Giants. After a terrific 2010...

Buster Posey Player Projection No 65

Key Stats: Let's get down to the brass tacks here. Posey is the Giants offense. He hit over .320 in four of his stops in the minors, with ISO's all around .200, except for a 7 game appearance in rookie ball when it was .308. He was called up with all the hype in the world and played a major part in the Giants 2010 World Series run teeing off 18 times in 108 games. A broken...

Player Profile #76: Pablo Sandoval | 3B | SF

Pablo Sandoval has had some wildly erratic seasons in his short career, but what else would you expect from a player with swing-first mentality? Over the last three seasons there have been 304 players who’ve totaled 750 plate appearances (an average of 250 per season). Sandoval’s 58.3 percent swing rate ranks second highest behind only Vladimir Guerrero. Despite that...

An Angel That's Touched

So where have we heard this before? "I’m very, very confident that this is the team to beat." -Angel Pagan on the Giants That's it Angel, reach for the stars. You're better at that than you were at reaching for fly balls. And congratulations ... for you're now the Jimmy Rollins of the National League West. Prepare to be hated by your new friends in L.A...
