The hated Dodgers came to town this weekend, and looked to end the Giants winning streak. However, they weren’t able to leave San Francisco with any wins. The San Francisco Giants swept them right out of town, and are in the midst of a six game winning streak! They’ve also already swept a series from every team in the NL West! Roster Moves Prior to the start of the Dodgers series; the Giants sent pitcher Sandy Rosario and catcher Hector Sanchez to the minors. They called up outfielder Francisco Peguero and activated reliever Jeremy Affeldt from the DL. Will The Real Pence, Please Stand Up Funky Hunter Pence is going to face his former team (Phillies) tonight, and I’m sure that’s going to give him some added motivation. During the Giants six game winning streak, Pence has hit .320 with a homer and 6 RBI. Giants’ fans are seeing the real Pence, and not the struggling one after the trade last year. Happy Birthday “The Say Hey Kid”, Willie Mays turns 82 today. Happy Birthday to the liv...

Demoting Hector Sanchez clearly the right move for Giants

I really need to start writing these posts when the ideas pop into my head. If I had, maybe I'd have beaten the Giants to the punch when they sent Hector Sanchez down to Fresno. Luckily, I use Twitter as an extension of my brain's thoughts. Unlike my brain, Twitter comes with a time and date stamp: I wonder sometimes if Hector Sanchez should go back to Fresno to get regular...

SF Giants Rumors: Cliff Lee Could Be On The Giants Radar

Last night didn’t go as planned for the San Francisco Giants. Cliff Lee and the Phillies pumped the brakes on the Giants six game winning streak. Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says it’s worth the Giants’ time to pick up the phone and inquire about a possible trade for Lee. It’s not likely that the Phillies will be able to keep pace with the Braves and Nationals, so they...

San Francisco Giants Recall Francisco Peguero, Option Hector Sanchez

The San Francisco Giants have recalled outfielder Francisco Peguero from Triple-A Fresno to serve as bench depth for the outfield and some right-handed pop. To make room for him on the parent roster, the Giants have optioned catcher Hector Sanchez to the same minor league affiliate. The post San Francisco Giants Recall Francisco Peguero, Option Hector Sanchez appeared first on...

Angel Pagan injury update: Confident he'll start today

Angel Pagan was available for pinch-hitting only yesterday.  The San Francisco Giants' outfielder is nursing a sore hamstring, but he has been progressing everyday.  Pagan has even started running again and feels he'll be ready to start today. Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area says Pagan's progressed from not running while he let the hamstring heal to running at 70...

Flatlulent Giants pitcher sent down to the minors

Best known in his brief tenure with the Giants for bombing the bullpen with deadly gas, Jean Machi has been optioned by the club to Triple-A Fresno. Creating awkward situations with Jose Mijares might have been the only thing Machi did wrong with the Giants, however. The right-hander surrendered just two runs in nine relief appearances. The Giants, though, did not have any room after...

Giants 4, Dodgers 3

Hunter Pence doubled twice and drove in four runs, Matt Cain pitched into the eighth inning for his first victory of the season and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Sunday night to complete a series sweep. Leadoff hitter Andres Torres had three hits for San Francisco while Marco Scutaro had two hits and scored twice. The Giants extended their season-high...

Matt Cain and Hunter Pence Lead Giants in Sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Giants finally won a game without bringing it down to their final at-bat and without a walk-off celebration at home plate. Following the walk-off homer by reigning NL MVP Buster Posey on Friday night, and the improbable hero in Guillermo Quiroz on Saturday night, the Giants put the Dodgers away again Sunday evening in another one-run contest. This time, though, they didn’t...

Giants' Angel Pagan sits last night, could miss today's opener

The San Francisco Giants probably didn't need anymore help in sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend, but they wouldn't have had a problem with Angel Pagan joining in on the fun Sunday.  Pagan sat with a sore hamstring Sunday afternoon, and he may miss the team's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle...

Cain Shuts Down Dodgers in First Win

Matt Cain turns in best outing of the season in Sunday win over Los Angeles, allowing one run in 7.1 innings of work while proving he's still got plenty of gas in his right arm.

Bumgarner Gives Up 5, Giants Lose to Phillies 6-2

The San Francisco Giants saw their six game win streak come to an end with their 6-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday Night. Bumgarner gave up three runs in the second inning, the most given up in a game all season. Two singles, a walk and a double gave Philadelphia a 3-0 lead. He continued to struggle for the first time this year. In the fifth he gave a double to Michael...

Pence Takes Blame for Down 2012

When he arrived from Houston, the swing was goofy, but the work ethic was solid. No one ever accused Hunter Pence of not trying. Turns out, he was trying too hard, which is what we all saw with our own two eyes anyway. Last season, while Pence was still with the Phillies, he admitted to doing too much in the absence of the meat of the order, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. When he arrived...

The Dodgers and Giants have played each other very close through the years.

Heading into Sunday’s series finale, the Giants have won 1,194 of the 2,361 games in the all-time series. The Dodgers have taken 1,167. In their 123 years of intra-league competition, the Giants have finished with a better record at seasons-end 64 times. The Dodgers, 59 times. The Giants own 22 National League pennants. The Dodgers have 21. Recent accounts also support...

The Phils begin their first trip to the west coast by beating the Giants, 6-2.

The Phils’ offense return after being missing for two games as they support Cliff Lee’s good start by beating the Giants, 6-2. The Phils tried to get on the scoreboard in the top of the first as they loaded up the bases, via singles by Michael Young and Ryan Howard, with M. Young stopping at second base, and a walk to Delmon Young, with both M. Young and Howard moving up a base...
