Relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt hurt himself trying to separate frozen patties with a knife. Affeldt had to have surgery, and is done for the year. The only good thing about this is it was his right hand that was injured. Affeldt is a southpaw.
Affeldt is at the end of his two year contact with the Giants. The team does however have a 2012 club option. If the San Francisco Giants exercise that option than Affeldt will be back next season making $5 million ($500K buyout).
The Giants will likely decline the $5 million club option and try to re-sign Affeldt. I expect to see Affeldt back in a Giants uniform next season. What’s your thoughts?
