Found August 02, 2012 on Philliedelphia:
Shane Victorino may have driven some of us crazy time to time with his play, but the man is a true class act. He took out this full-page ad in tomorrow's Philadelphia Daily News. I'm shocked he got this out so fast. Bob Ventrone, Jr. shared the picture on his Facebook page that I noticed thanks to Phillies Beat Writer Kevin Cooney on Twitter. Speaking of Twitter, Shane also had many nice things to say on his Twitter account: I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him in Philadelphia, though we may have as a player. If Mike Lieberthal made the Phillies Wall of Fame, there is surely a place for Shane. He is and always will be a Phillies World Series Champion.

A Haphazard Estimate re Victorino, Dodger Left Fielder

As both managing editor Dave Cameron and large swaths of the internet have noted, outfielder Shane Victorino has been traded by the Phillies to the Dodgers. Despite the fact that he’s probably a superior defender to Matt Kemp, it’s unlikely that Victorino will push the incumbent Kemp to left field. (This is what’s known in legal terms as the Derek Jeter Precedent.) It stands...

Dodgers acquire OF Victorino from Phillies

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Dodgers today acquired outfielder Shane Victorino from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for right-handed reliever Josh Lindblom, minor league right-hander Ethan Martin and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti made the announcement. Were excited to add an All-Star caliber player with postseason experience...

Dodgers Get Shane Victorino For Nothing They’ll Miss

Okay, they didn’t actually get him for nothing. To acquire the Phillies center fielder (who will almost certainly play left in LA), the Dodgers gave up 25-year-old reliever Josh Lindblom and enigmatic right-handed pitching prospect Ethan Martin. Reports are that the Dodgers felt comfortable moving Lindblom after acquiring Brandon League from the Mariners last night, but in reality...

Five memories of Shane Victorino's time in Philly

Shane Victorino was a player to move, but will not be kicked out in shame. The Phillies traded Shane Victorino yesterday to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-handed reliever Josh Lindblom and Double A catcher Ethan Martin as well as a player to be named or cash. The deadline day deal seems like a pretty decent move for the Phillies, who I did not expect to re-sign...

For the Second Trading Deadline, Shane Victorino Replaces Bobby Abreu as Dodgers Part Ways With Outfielder

It is 2006 all over again.   At the trading deadline in 2006, the Phillies sent outfielder Bobby Abreu and pitcher Cory Lidle to the New York Yankees for no one that ever made a difference in Philadelphia.  The move was made so that Shane Victorino could join the starting lineup, where he would go on to win three gold gloves and make two All-Star games. Today, the Los Angeles...

What did Phillies get back in Victorino and Pence deals?

What a difference a year makes.  On this date one year ago the Phillies brought in Hunter Pence in a hugely popular trade - remember the cameras following his arrival in that black SUV?  It bolstered a team who was 29 games above .500 and held a 6 game lead in the NL East on their way to 102 victories. Exactly one year later, the 12 games under .500 last place...

Dodgers Trade Analysis: Josh Lindblom, Ethan Martin, PTBNL/Cash For Shane Victorino

As I wrote yesterday, the Dodgers acquired outfielder Shane Victorino from the Phillies in return for reliever Josh Lindblom, AA starter Ethan Martin, and either a player to be named later or cash. Shane Victorino is returning to the organization that drafted him in 1999. The Dodgers acquired Victorino from the Phillies today for starting

Phillies run finally over?

When the Phillies shipped Shane Victorino to the Los AngelesDodgers a slew of great memories raced through my head. Mainly, the magical2008 World Series run. These past five seasons have been the best baseball infranchise’s history, although some may argue that the early 1980’s was better. I went back and looked at how that 2008 team was built, and Iwas astonished at the savvy...

Gauging the Phillies’ Trades of Victorino and Pence

The trade deadline has passed, and now the dust begins to settle for the Philadelphia Phillies. There were 2 casualties, but there could have been more. The Phillies were unable to complete a deal with Baltimore to trade Joe Blanton, and also along the way decided to pull Cliff Lee off of the table. In the end the Phillies traded away outfielders Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence...

FIRE SALE: Phillies Send Hunter Pence to San Francisco

Just hours after Shane Victorino was sent across the country to Los Angeles, his partner in the outfield is also headed to California. It's official that Hunter Pence has been traded to the SF Giants. The Giants will be responsible for the remainder of his $10.4 million salary for the 2012 season. Pence is eligible to be a free agent after the completion of next season. What...

Biertempfel: Pirates Unwilling to Part with Top Prospects

Rob Biertempfel reports: The Pirates are reluctant to part with rookie outfielder Starling Marte or top right-handed pitching prospects Jameson Taillon and Gerrit Cole, which takes them out of the running for outfielder such as Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino and Shin-Soo Choo. I think the Pirates are definitely being smart in not giving up any of these three guys for the people mentioned...

Pregame: Lee vs. Strasburg Closes Out Big Trade Day

A busy day in a dreadful Phillies season finds them shipping Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence out of town. Both moves were very necessary and look for more in the next month as the waiver trade deadline approaches. My brief editorial is the return for Victorino and Pence is worthy of them. I was among the few that felt the haul to land Pence in the first place was ridiculous and...

2012 Fantasy Baseball, Trade Deadline: Philly deals Hunter Pence to the Giants

The Phillies aren’t done. On the heels of dealing the flying Hawaiian Shane Victorino for relief pitcher Josh Lindblom and SP prospect Ethan Martin, the Philles have decided to send Hunter Pence to Victorino’s division rival San Francisco Giants for 1B/C prospect Tommy Joseph, OF Nate Schierholtz and P prospect Seth Rosin. Pence is currently hitting .271 lowest since 2008...
