Who should be the A’s back up catcher? This topic is more important than it sounds. Kurt Suzuki is a solid catcher and will be the A’s starter for years to come. I feel he could be the A’s next Terry Steinbach. They have similar bats and are both dynamite behind the plate. But as good and durable as Kurt is he is going to miss around 30 games or so. That just comes with the territory of catching in the majors. While Kurt slumped last year he still managed to be a productive hitter with runners in scoring position. Add that with the fact that Kurt does such a fantastic job calling games for the A’s young talented starting pitching staff and that equals to a huge whole when he is out. So having him miss games can be a bit of a scary thought. So who can lessen the blow of Kurt Suzuki being out Landon Powell or Josh Donaldson?
