  • Absolutely, Charging the mound is STUPID, he looked like he leaned it, and even if he was hit on a 3-2 count on purpose, so what take your base, grow up!!!!!!!
  • If the inury is a flagrant disregard of the fair play rules of the game. Since rushing the mound is not part of the game it would not apply. I have long been in favor of suspending a player of any sport for as long as the injury he caused keeps the other player out of the lineup. Whether it be a flagrant foul in basketball, an unlawful hit in football, or an illegal play in baseball. In baseball there is a simple solution to this silliness of rushing the mound and causing a brawl. If a batter is hit he should proceed to first base at the umpires direction. If he charges the mound he would be declared out for leaving the baseline. All players who leave the dugout and participate in an altercation will be disqualified for the remainder of the game. Put the game back into the hands of the umpires.
  • You have to be very careful here, if you are going to enforce such a rule, strict guidelines have to be established. I m sure my fellow sport fans can come up with other steps. My main one would intent by the perpetrator has to established. Whether it be a pitcher or batter, if the action of the perpetrator was done on purpose and if the other party is injured as part of that action, then the perpetrator should lose as many games as the injured party. limey1950
