People in Chicago having been dreaming of the moment for a long time. Some believe it actually may have come to fruition if it wasn’t for Steve Bartman. We speak, of course, of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series.
Most of us know this will never happen, but hopes springs eternal for the Cubs fan and Playstation is taking full advantage of that pipe dream in their new commercial for MLB 12 The Show.
We’re talking a real scene shot with real people celebrating like the North Siders actually came through. It’s almost like it actually happened.

Premise of Video: Well, we guess they’re trying to say anything can happen in MLB 12 The Show because it actually looks like the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.
Climax of Video: For those of us that hate the Cubs, it’s when it becomes clear that this is about a video game.
Conclusion: Like you jerks are going to win anything with that roster. Hahahahaha!

Yordy Cabrera hit Tony Zych’s first pitch over the LF fence for what turned-out to be the game-winning run, as the Oakland A’s rallied from a five-run deficit to edge the Cubs 8-7 in Cactus League action at Dwight Patterson Field at HoHoKam Park in warm & cloudy Mesa, AZ, this afternoon.
Ryan Dempster got the start for the Cubs and threw two innings (34 pitches – 23 strikes...
Yeah, I like Anthony Rizzo too. I like him better than Bryan LaHair even if LaHair was moussing pitchers all last year. In the PCL, which doesn’t stand for Plutonium Chloride, he hit 38 homers with a .331 average, mashing like his name was Dee Dee Sharp. Sure, batting in the PCL is like hitting with an aluminum bat in an anti-gravity chamber, but he was the best — the best...
We all remember the first time we led our favorite team to the championship in franchise mode of a sports video game. We imagined a city full of Sims-like people losing their marbles while our little pixelated figures piled on top of each other on a recreated infield. Well, at least that's what I did. In a commercial for MLB 12 The Show, the city of Chicago erupts with joy when...
Just like last year with the PA gig, the Chicago Cubs are partnering with CareerBuilder to find four ball boys/ball girls for the 2012 baseball season at Wrigley Field. Submit your applications, including a video sample, now through March 12 at Cubs.careerbuilder.com.
The team will select 50 semifinalists to attend live tryouts at BASH Sports Academy in Chicago on March 19. A group...
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Jeff Samardzija made a strong opening bid for a spot in the Cubs rotation.
He allowed one hit in three scoreless innings Wednesday, and the Chicago Cubs defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-4.
Cubs manager Dale Sveum says Samardzija appears to be on a mission.
"He's 100 percent correct," said Samardzija, a standout receiver at Notre Dame who...
This week in state laws
Lots of discussion in the comments this morning about state liquor and marriage laws yesterday. Apparently WaLi tried to get drunk and marry his cousin yesterday, and needed to make sure what states he was allowed to do that in.
Is there a Cubs game today?
The Cubs play an A's split squad today at HoHoKam. Pat and Zonk have the call on WGN radio, and...
Carlos Marmol (credits below) Carlos Marmol and his career K-rate (11.74) will be the third best closer in fantasy baseball in 2012. Sure, he’s blown 22 saves in his career and had a 4.01 ERA last season, but the ERA was an aberration and Tyler Clippard, Francisco Cordero, Brian Wilson and others have all blown at least 17 saves since 2009. Since the 2009 season, Marmol has...
The Chicago Cubs have not won the World Series in 103 years, a longer championship drought than that of any other major North American professional sports team…so what would it actually look like if they did? So real, it’s unreal. -TO

Magglio Ordonez to the Cubs?
Alfonso Soriano hit two home runs and a double to send Dale Sveum and the Chicago Cubs to an 11-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
It was Sveum's first victory since he was hired to manage the Cubs in November.
Soriano led off the Cubs' four-run second inning with a drive that hit halfway up the scoreboard in left field. He led off the third with a double to...
MESA, Ariz. — Theo Epstein laid down the law at the Cubs Convention, stating firmly the organization would no longer tolerate players who enjoy the nightlife at the expense of getting a good night's sleep.
"It's been a factor in ruining some careers," the team president said. "And I'm sure it's been an impediment to the Cubs in winning. … The approach...
