TEAMS: Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees
For the first three innings, Aaron Cook looked good...in fact ridiculously good...allowing no runs on just one hit.Stop me if you've heard this one before.Curtis Granderson led off the top of the 4th inning with a solo home run, Robinson Cano belted a two-run shot and just like that the Red Sox were trailing 3-0, with the Red Sox ultimately losing 5-4 to the Yankees at Fenway Park.Cook (pictured) went 5 innings giving up those 3 runs on 7 hits; he struck out 2 and didn't walk anyone.Among the highlights - Cody Ross, Bobby Valentine and Jerry Royster were all tossed in the bottom of the 8th inning on a VERY questionable 3-2 pitch. Dustin Pedroia left the game, presumably because his wife had gone into labor with their second child. Jarrod Saltalamacchia was a single short of the cycle; he hit his 24th home run of the season in the bottom of the 9th.

MLB Rumors: Must John Henry Choose Between Boston Red Sox And Liverpool FC?
Rumors circulated yesterday that the Boston Red Sox could be quietly on the market right now so that main financier John Henry can focus more on his other professional sports franchise, Liverpool FC. But while...

Alfredo Aceves Needs An Attitude Adjustment
Performance forgives a multitude of sins.
If you’re a pitcher that exudes attitude on the mound with fist-pumps, swearing, and a tense brow, it is seen as tenacity—you can Jose Valverde all over the mound, as long as you keep the saves high and runs low. But when performance starts to slip, the actions that were once signs of perseverance are suddenly less cute, often viewed...
John Lackey Throws for Second Time, On Track to Pitch in Live Game Soon
BOSTON -- For the second straight week, John Lackey threw a live batting practice in front of an audience -- his teammates. "[He] felt even better than he did last time, and looked better...
Jon Hamm, Larry David Cheer on Red Sox During Game at Fenway Park (Photos)
Don Draper isn't much of a baseball fan, but his alter Ego Jon Hamm enjoys to take in a game every now and again. Hamm, who stars as Draper in AMC's hit series Mad Men, was at Fenway Park on Thursday night to catch the finale of the Red Sox three-game set with the Yankees. Sporting a Red Sox hat and seated just next to the Boston dugout, Hamm was taking in the game alongside...
Interview with Ray Nergon: Batboy, Yankee Confidant, Author
When Ray Negron was 17, he was caught doing the unthinkable, by the person you’d least like to be caught doing it by: he was caught tagging Yankee Stadium by team owner and notoriously temperamental George Steinbrenner
That youthful, albeit delinquent, indiscretion, however, turned out to be arguably the greatest one ever perpetrated by a baseball fan.
The Queens resident was...

Derek Lowe Calls Boston 'Small Town' Where Fans 'Live and Die Sports,' Doesn't Yet Know if Yankees Have Same Magic
While it's been eight years since Derek Lowe last wore a Red Sox uniform and led Boston to postseason greatness, he still remembers the hype of a big series and what it was like to play in such a sports-crazed city. That's partly because he's wearing pinstripes now, meaning he is again getting the packed clubhouses and media attention that come with being an American...
