The Red Sox haven't been playing particularly well this season.  And while they've at least won a game (something they didn't do through six games last year), they're getting just as grumpy about the losses piling up.

WEEI has the quotes:

"What do you want me to talk about? We're 1-5. We're not playing good right now," [Jon Lester] said. "The games we pitch well, we don't hit. The games we don't pitch well, we hit. We just haven't put it together right now. Nobody in this clubhouse wants to start slow regardless of years past. Like we said last year, it sucks to hear, but it's a long season. We're going to show up o Friday and keep grinding it out."

"It's just as frustrating," [Adrian Gonzalez] said. "We'll get out of it. But it is frustrating now."

Of everyone, you have to feel for Lester.   He's put up two solid games and gotten no help from the offense.  You can excuse, and even expect that to happen when facing Justin Verlander.  But you'd hope the Sox can at least put up some runs against Ricky Romero.

There is hope on the horizon, though, as the Sox head back to Boston.

"I think everybody is anxious to go home," said Red Sox DH David Ortiz. "We haven't been home in a while. I guess it's like a reset for everybody. Hopefully we start playing better when we go home."

If the Sox can take 3 of 4 from Tampa during that first home series, we'll forget all about this little stumble out of the blocks.  If they lose 3 of 4?  I shudder to even think about it...
