Alexei Ramirez was the league leader at shortstop in home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, and total bases. This was a great year for the Sox’ shortstop who appears to be coming into his own. His fielding percentage increased, and he can attribute this to all the hard work he put in with bench coach Joey Cora. Not only did Ramirez improve defensively, he showed the offense that we saw in his inaugural season after defecting from Cuba. It’s safe to say that shortstop is locked up for next year.
