Don't get me wrong. It's only been one game. But boy what a great season opener. I was listening to WEEI 850am this afternoon, and Glenn Ordway from the Big Show was talking about how fans were getting too excited about just one game. I agree that we shouldn't get pumped up after just one game, but I believe the excitment is because it was opening day and it was a great ball game. Josh Beckett struck out Iwamura to start the game and just got better from there. He went seven strong innings, giving up just 2 hits and a run, while walking 3 and striking out 10. This might only be the first game, but for a cold day with 45 degree weather, it's not something to just look past. As if going 1-2-3 in the first wasn't exciting enough to start the game, Dustin Pedroia really got the crowd roaring with a solo shot into the monster seats.
