Earlier this winter I took a look at the AL East starting rotations and last week added the AL East infields to the mix. Seems logical to me that a glance at the various outfields is a pretty good place to go next.All projected outfields based on official club depth charts;#1 New York YankeesProjected Outfield – Brett Gardner, Curtis Granderson, Nick SwisherThis is a heck of a group without question. Granderson is coming off a season that generated MVP talk but at 5.2 WAR was actually not out of line with his mid-20s performances in Detroit. If he has rebounded to that level that is a huge boost.Gardner is a tricky one to evaluate. His value is heavily wrapped up in his defense and that 4.4 WAR is only accurate to the point that you grant validity to the 3.2 dWAR (defensive Wins Above Replacement). Gardner is a truly magnificent defensive player but I am a skeptic. Not only was Gardner the best defender in the AL by dWAR he eclipsed second place Alberto Callaspo by 1.5 WAR...
