It’s been more than a decade since Cubs fan Steve Bartman’s name became etched into the collective baseball consciousness, thanks to his unintentional interference with Chicago outfielder Moises Alou while clamoring for a foul ball during Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS.
You know the story—if Alou catches it, it’s the second out of the inning, and the Cubs are only four outs from winning the game, and the series, over the Marlins. Instead, the floodgates open, Chicago loses 8-3, and Florida ends up winning the series.
And Steve Bartman ends up receiving an ungodly amount of crap from fellow fans, before apologizing for his actions and dropping out of the public eye, never to be heard from again.
Seems like a perfect time to dredge up all those painful memories, eh Cubs fans?
