Stevens Down, Caridad Up, MO And Most of the Free-Thinking World Mystified

According to the only Cubs beat guy who does his job in a serious and responsible manner, Bruce Miles, Jeff Stevens has been sent down to AAA Iowa, and RHP Esmailin Caridad has been called up. Here’s Caridad’s line at Iowa this season: 23 GS, 125.2 IP, 132 H, 58 ER, 15 HR, 45 BB, 105 K, 4.15 ERA, 1.41 WHIP I’m not sure why you’d call up a guy who doesn’t even seem to be capable of handling AAA hitters, but in a season full of wacky roster moves, all I can do is throw up my hands, finish off this glass of thoroughly unremarkable Pinot Noir, and say “Why the hell not?!?!?!”
