The Washington Nationals snapped The New York Mets four game winning streak with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday night:

Dillon Gee started for the Mets, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings pitched:

Gee allowed a lead off homer to Ian Desmond on the third pitch of the game, but bounced back to toss four scoreless innings before failing to make it out of the sixth.  After a Ryan Zimmerman double to start the frame, Gee struck out LaRoche before back-to-back singles — including a Jayson Werth RBI hit — ended his night.  Bobby Parnell relieved the Mets starter and induced what should have been an inning ending double play if not for a Daniel Murphy error which kept the inning alive.  Nats catcher Wilson Ramos followed with a long, catch-able, fly ball to the warning track in right, but Lucas Duda was unable to make the play; leading to two more Washington runs.

OH MURPHY, YIKES!: As it will at times during the season, the defense of Daniel Murphy at second base reared it’s ugly head. Murph botched two other opportunities to turn a double play during tonights contest besides the one stated above.  In the first inning,  he failed to complete the transfer on what should have been an easy 5-4-3 double play. Then again in the ninth, after receiving the toss from Ruben Tejada #28 launched the throw well over the head of Justin Turner.

ANEMIC OFFENSE: There was not much going on offensively tonight, as the heart of the order — Murphy, Jason Bay, Lucas Duda — combined to go 1-for-12:

LETS HOPE TOMORROW IS A BETTER DAY: Johan Santana will take the hill for the Mets tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 pm in Citi Field.  The Nats will counter with their young phenom, Stephen Strasburg.
