Found May 26, 2013 on Oriole Post:
Over the weekend, the Orioles placed reliever Pedro Strop on the disabled list (15 days) due to a lower back strain. In turn, the Orioles have recalled Steve Johnson. However, the timing of this injury is all kinds of weird. I’m mostly sure that Strop is indeed injured, but he’s also been all kinds of bad since last September. Strop has always lived on edge as an Oriole. Sadly, this year he’s been walking batters right and left, has been very ineffective and seemingly shows little command of his pitches. He has a 6.11 ERA this season and has resembled nothing like the guy we saw last year. Not that I am a conspiracy theorist, but I think he Orioles didn’t want to expose Strop to waivers (he has no options left). Most experts think that the right-handed would be claimed, so I guess it would make sense for Strop to chill out and work out kinks in ‘rehab starts’ at the lower level.   In other news, the Orioles did beat R.A. Dickey and the Toronto Blue...

Baltimore Orioles Release LHP Zach Braddock

The Baltimore Orioles released left-handed reliever Zach Braddock Friday. He was assigned to their Triple-A Norfolk minor league affiliate after signing a contract this past winter. He hasn’t pitched in a game since last July after undergoing shoulder surgery. He is only 25-years-old so it is probable that he will end up somewhere. But then again there are no guarantees. The...

Video: Tommy Hunter makes barehanded grab on sharp comebacker

Your browser does not support iframes.Pitchers often get blamed for not fielding their position viligantly. But that certainly can't be said for Baltimore Orioles right-hander Tommy Hunter.Hunter managed to escape a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning Sunday after fielding a sharp comebacker hit by Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista with his bare hand. Jays IF gives amazing postgame interview

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki has started to become a very entertaining character over the last couple weeks. First he had the photo surface of him in awe over Pablo Sandoval’s tattoos. Now today he hit a two run, walk off double against the Baltimore Orioles. That was pretty exciting as it was a walk off but the post game interview was the best part as Kawasaki...

The Tale of Nate Jones and Nate McLouth

The tale of two Nate’s I know Nate Jones isn’t as well known as Nate McLouth but in my world they both mean a lot. Nate Jones is a 27 year old reliever for the Chicago White Sox.  Nate Mclouth is a well traveled outfielder who now resides on the Baltimore Orioles. The last two years couldn’t have been more different for both of them.  They are the yin to each other’s yang...

Where Has The Orioles Magic Gone?

2012 was undoubtedly an exceptional year for the Orioles bull pen. Unforunately, 2013 is a different story. Pedro Strop has continued to miss the strike zone in important situations and when he does throw strikes they go into the stands. To Pedro’s defense, his exceptional fastball misleads his experience pitching.  Strop wasn’t always a bull pen guy, he grew up playing shortstop...

Thoughts on Mid May

The baseball season has reached a sort of weird, uninteresting part of the calendar. It’s not early, it certainly isn’t late. Nothing is being won right now, but there is lot that seems likely lost. And unless you are more than 20 games removed from .500, in either direction, there is nothing that can be spoken of with any certainty going forward. Mid May is the interminable...
