Surprise, Bucs score one run…again, lose…again

Who would have guessed that the lowest scoring team in baseball would only score one run in a 5-1 loss to the Diamondbacks last night? Well, seeing as how the Pirates have scored more than just one run five times this year, it was a pretty safe bet. For the third straight game, the Buccos scored first but they’re 1-2 in those games and now 1-6 on the road, and overall they’re 3-7, which is good enough for a share of 29th place…hey, at least they’re not last. Erik Bedard has now lost his first three games as a Pirate and even though last night was his worst start this year, he still gave the Bucs a chance to at least compete. He last five innings and only gave up two runs on three hits. There was only one inning last night where the Pirates had more than four at bats…and that was the first, when Andrew McCutchen hit a two-out single and then stole second, Casey McGehee followed him with a base hit and Neil Walker singled to center to score Cutch.
