TEAMS: Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, New York Mets
Prior to the start of the postseason, I brought up the idea of the New York Yankees making a run at relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton. The former Los Angeles Dodgers closer battled injuries and ineffectiveness beginning in the second half of 2010. Interestingly, everything was going great for Jonathan Broxton until a June 27th outing against the New York Yankees (notice the 48 pitches – that’s never good for a RP). One and a half seasons and an elbow operation (to remove loose bodies) later, Jonathan Broxton finds himself on the open market without much leverage. I’ve liked the New York Yankees bringing him in on a buy-low deal, but I just didn’t think there was enough room for him in their bullpen. Health withstanding, Mariano Rivera has a monopoly on the ninth inning while David Robertson and Rafael Soriano basically own a majority of the 7th and 8th inning shares. There are not any “prime” innings leftover for a guy like Jonathan Broxton, b...

Yankees 2011 Season in Review: Alex Rodriguez
After eight full seasons with the Yankees it is getting to the point where Alex Rodriguez has nearly played as many games in Pinstripes than in both a Mariners and Rangers uniform combined. With that he will also have played more games at third than at shortstop.
EXPECTATIONS: A-Rod got paid $31 million to hit fourth in the Yankees lineup. He also entered the season by hitting at...
Mets haven't contacted Broxton
Jonathan Broxton appears to be a good fit for the Mets, he's looking for a one year deal with incentives as he attempts to restore his career. The 27 y/o closer was a two time All-Star in which he collected 58 saves with an ERA under three. But Broxton hasn't effectively pitched in a year and a half, he's just over a month removed from what is described as minor elbow...
CC on Papelbon's Move To Philly
From the NY Daily News:“I just saw that about an hour ago and I’m not going to miss him,” Yankee ace CC Sabathia said while at the kickoff party for his “CC Challenge” charity scavenger hunt Saturday. “He’s a great pitcher and he was good for them. It just makes the Phillies that much better.
“If our ultimate goal is to win the World Series, I’m sure we’re...
Saying Goodbye to Jorge Posada
It wasn't hard to figure out where things were going between the Yankees and Jorge Posada.
When the Yankees signed Russell Martin as a free agent last winter, you knew Posada was going to be playing less than he had in previous seasons.
Then Brian Cashman told Posada he wouldn't be catching at all and wouldn't even be given a chance to show the team otherwise in spring...
New York Yankees Can Say Goodbye to Jonathan Papelbon
Well, it looks like the first domino has dropped during the 2011 Hot Stove season. Jonathan Papelbon will move from Beantown to the City of Brotherly Love after signing a four year deal worth $50 million to close games for the Philadelphia Phillies. New York Yankees fans were never really scared of Jonathan Papelbon and his 3.86 career ERA against the Bombers, but we don’...
