Matthew Cerrone's Mets Blog:
One rival GM told Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com that other clubs backed off pursuing Jose Reyes once the Marlins offered him $90 million for six years.
“As of now, no other club appears as interested, but teams often mask their intentions in free agency,” Rosenthal points out.
Here are other key updates about Jose over the last few days:
The Marlins may bump up their offer “a bit,” and then set a deadline for him to accept it.
The Mets would sign Reyes to a five year, $80 million deal, but will not guarantee more years than that.
Reyes only has two legitimate offers, “presumably from the Marlins and Mets.”
Reyes is targeting at least a $100 million deal.

Sandy Alderson On If Jose Reyes Is A Franchise Player
Last night, Sandy Alderson hosted a conference call with a few Mets bloggers that was by far the best one I ever participated in. We had some great questions from everyone and Sandy, who was very cordial, took his time and answered all of our questions concisely and proficiently. The tone of the call was kind of upbeat and it was interesting to hear how passionate everyone was about...

The Mets have spent so much of this offseason waiting. They have waited for Jose Reyes to shop his services around to their rivals. They have waited for the market for free-agent relievers to define itself. They have waited for Reyes and other factors to define their shrinking budget.

Angels Meet A-Ram, Offer Coming?
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have met with free agent third baseman and that an offer could be coming soon. The visit is of no shock as the Angels have been rumored to have interest for a while now, if anything I’m more surprised it took this long to happen.
