According to ESPN, Terry Francona will indeed attend the Fenway Park 100th anniversary celebration. This is big news after Francona said that he probably wasn’t going to the celebration due to the way that Red Sox ownership treated him in the past.
Francona told ESPN that he thinks that he owes it to the fans to show up and that he will show up for them.
Tito said last week that “somebody went out of their way to make me look pretty bad.” He later said that he regrets some of the comments that he made about Red Sox ownership and what transpired after the September collapse.
This news is great news for everybody in Red Sox Nation who would have hated to see Terry Francona not show to an event that he deserves to go to. I still think that he shouldn’t have accepted the invitation after the way he was treated, but he made it clear that he was going out of respect for the fans, just showing how classy a guy he truly is. Hats off to you Tito and thanks for the many great memories!
