It's looking more and more like right-hander Neftali Feliz will be returning to the Texas Rangers sometime next month, just in time for the stretch run.
Rangers manager Ron Washington said before Friday's game against the White Sox in Chicago that Feliz still has several tests to pass, but is optimistic the hard-throwing hurler will be coming back.
Feliz has been undergoing an injury-rehabilitation assignment with the Rangers' Triple-A team in Round Rock, Texas. He's made four appearances thus far and is pitching in the 89 to 93 mph range.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said earlier this week that he expects Feliz, who has not pitched in the big leagues since the middle of last season following Tommy John surgery and several setbacks since, will throw out of the bullpen if and when he returns.
Washington says his ballclub can use the help.

Yesterday, while bugging a friend of mine to come hang out instead of watching his favorite MLS team play, I received the following text message: “Please! You are the guy who watches a sport which doesn’t have a time limit. My game will be over soon.”
Well, he does have a point. As George Carlin once said while comparing football and baseball, “Football is rigidly timed,...

On this day in 2007, the baseball world saw a beating like it had never seen before. The Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 30-3, setting a record for the most runs scored by a team in modern MLB history.
The Rangers trailed, 3-0, then scored, to the shock of even their own fans, 30 unanswered runs.
It was the first time since 1900, thought of as the beginning of the...
With the Texas Rangers, it has not really been a matter of if they would make a move for the strangle-hold of the American League West, it was a matter of when.
Now that we are in the dog days of summer, it is clear that the Rangers have picked August to be the month where they made their move. They are 15-4 this month, including an 8-game winning streak during the heart of August...
It's a lesson every kid learns day one in Little League — the play isn't over until the umpire makes a call. Chicago White Sox leftfielder Dayan Viciedo finally learned that lesson to his dismay. A ground ball down the left-field line eluded Vicedo and got lost behind the wall allowing Ian Kinsler to round the bases for a bizarre inside-the-park homer. While logic...

A.J. Pierzynski’s return to U.S. Cellular Field provided some feel-good moments Friday night but the Texas Rangers had a long-awaited reunion of their own.
Their hitters reconnected with their long-lost first love the home run and they caught up on lost time during the opener of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox.

As the Texas Rangers enjoyed their off day on Thursday, the team had a lot to reflect on and look forward to at the same time. The August schedule was a time that was looked at as a chance to pick up some momentum and carry it through the rest of the season. The Rangers have definitely taken advantage, as they have complied a 15-4 record during the month. This stretch has the team...
While we have spent much time debating over whether to trade for Elvis Andrus or Jurickson Profar, the word out of Arlington is that neither Profar or Andrus will be dangled this offseason. Rather, Ian Kinsler is the player the Rangers would prefer to trade. Profar is 21; Andrus is 24; Kinsler is 31. Therefore, Kinsler’s future is a lot shorter than the other two. Now, while Andrus...
