According to Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com, the Texas Rangers have a strong interest in Chicago Cubs’ outfielder Xavier Nady.
Nady signed a one-year $3.3 million deal this past off season and in addition to his outfield experience, he has some experience at first base. Nady has played 90 games at first base throughout his MLB career, so he would provide the Rangers the flexibility to play him elsewhere especially since the team recently traded first baseman Justin Smoak to the Seattle Mariners for Cliff Lee.
In early June, Nady was rumored to be a target of the Los Angeles Angels.
The 31-year-old is hitting .233/.305/.361 with the Cubs in 2010.
