Someone should have told St. Louis Cardinals’ outfielder Lance Berkman to keep his words short and sweet, because he may just have to eat them. Prior to the start of the 2011 MLB regular season, Berkman touted the Texas Rangers as “an average team.” His Cardinals are preparing to face that “average team” in the 2011 MLB World Series beginning tonight. Last offseason, Berkman was a free agent seeking a new team for the upcoming season. After his trade from the Houston Astros and his dismal offensive showing with the New York Yankees, it was usrprising that any team was really after Berkman. Regardless, the Cardinals and Rangers were the two teams who sought Berkman’s services the most.
