There was a limited schedule last night in MLB, with only nine games. Pitching ruled the day as there were several imposing pitching performances. Details after the jump.

Angels 5, Athletics 0
Jered Weaver and his locks of gold dominated the meager A’s lineup. He threw a shutout while striking out 10 Athletics and only walking one. Last year Weaver led the AL in strikeouts and he seems to have picked up on that pace again, striking out 49 batters in 45 innings. I know he pitches on the West Coast so it really doesn’t count, but he’s been just as filthy this year as Josh Johnson. After last night’s poetic performance, Weaver is 6-0 with a league low 0.99 ERA. In related news, Jeff Weaver is still a douche.

White Sox 2, Yankees 0
Phil Humber held the Yankees hitless until the 7th inning. Who the hell is Phil Humber you ask. Well, he actually was drafted with the 3rd overall pick of the 2004 draft by the Mets. Then he was traded as part of a package for to the Twins for Johan Santana. The most interesting thing about Humber is that he’s been on more teams than he has career victories. Maybe some of the White Sox bats are waking up. Adam Dunn snapped an 0-for-13 skid, and Alex Rios broke an 0-for-22 slump.

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 4
Corey Patterson hit a shoulder high pitch over the right field fence for a 3-run bomb. I’m shocked he’s still getting ABs by a real major league team. On the very next pitch, Jose Bautista hit his major league leading 8th bomb. Kyle Drabek, the Blue Jays top prospect coming into the season, threw six innings to get the win.

Marlins 5, Dodgers 4
Omar Infante had a walk-off single following an error by SS Jamey Carroll. Carroll’s error allowed the tying run to score. Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 22 games. Jonathon Broxton, who is listed at 300 lbs, gets credited with a blown save because his shortstop sucks.

Rockies 5, Cubs 3
The Cubs decided to play defense like a bunch of little leaguers, notching four errors for the game. Starlin Castro had three errors in the 2nd inning alone. The Rockies only scored one earned run.

Reds 9, Brewers 5
Brandon Phillips went 3 for 4 out of the cleanup spot. Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer as part of a six run third inning. It looks like the NL Central is going to be an appealing battle to watch all season. It’s a race to 85 wins.

Padres 5, Braves 3
The Padres snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating Atlanta in 13 innings. The struggling Ryan Ludwick hit his second homer of the game in the 13th inning. Superman Jayson Heyward hit a home run in the losing effort.

Nationals 4, Pirates 2
In a matchup of the league’s most uninteresting teams, the Nationals prevailed. If you saw the highlights, you might’ve noticed that there were only 34 people in the stadium. That number is more accurate than you think.

Diamondbacks 4, Phillies 0
Ian Kennedy outpitched Cliff Lee, giving up just three hits while striking out 10 batters in his first career shutout. Kennedy’s wife also delivered the couple’s first baby on Sunday morning. The Phillies offense continues to sputter. They haven’t scored more than four runs in a game since April 9.

This song perfectly sums up Jeff Weaver’s awesomeness. Apparently this chick wants to hump him. It’s the only logical explanation. If you can make it to the 1:45 mark, you’ll be treated to a pretty sweet analogy.
