The Atlanta Braves new mascot looks like the Phillie Phanatic. Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves held their annual fanfest on Saturday, and there’s one big takeaway from it. The team unveiled a new mascot named Blooper, and it’s all sorts of hideous.

If that’s not a Phillie Phanatic ripoff, we’re not entirely too sure what.

Compare and contrast. Talk amongst yourselves.

Way to be original, guys.

Yeah, it’s been a while since the Braves were baseball’s version of America’s Team, airing on TBS on a near nightly basis.

Sure the team will be welcoming Chipper Jones to the Hall of Fame this year. But he’s a reminder of just how the mighty have fallen.

The Braves themselves come in at 97 on the SNIPdaily Franchise Top 100, just ahead of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. That’s a sure sign that the brand just isn’t here for Atlanta’s baseball darlings.

They may be more talked about this weekend, but not for the best of reasons.

Groupthink at its finest. Maybe the Braves will come to their senses and realize this was never a good idea. Hopefully.
