The St. Louis Cardinals and centerfielder Carlos Beltran have agreed on a two-year contract, according to Derrick Goold of St. Lous Post-Dispatch. Beltran, 34, has been a hot commodity on the free agent market, especially drawing interest from St. Louis after slugger Albert Pujols departed to join the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Losing Pujols is a killer. He was the heart and soul of the Cardinals for so many years, but I want to reassure  fans that things are going to be ok. First, you are the defending World Series Champs so you’re already in better shape than damn near every team. More importantly, I like that little squad you have in St. Louis. With Prince Fielder out of Milwaukee and Braun off the juice, the NL Central is yours for the taking even without the best player in baseball.
