The Miami Marlins signed Heath Bell to a three-year/$9 million deal last night. The biggest name on the Padres appears to be ready to make a decision. Where, is still up in the air, but Jim Bowden of ESPN tweeted this evening

Jays in lead for Bell
Most experts believe the Blue Jays are in the lead for Heath Bell, the former Met is the top closer left on the market and it's believed that he is seeking at least a three year deal. There's just no way the Mets and Bell would reunite, Bell still feels scorned by his treatment when he was with the Mets and the new Met regime isn't giving a multi-year deal. Bell has...

A Mike Stanton Extension: Possible or Not?
When the Miami Marlins signed Heath Bell to a three year, $27 million contract Thursday night, the reaction on Twitter was…well, do I even need to tell you? It’s like clockwork; some team signs Proven Closer X to an expensive contract, and the sabermetric Twitterverse nigh explodes with negativity and snark. All this has happened before. All this will happen again.*

The Miami Marlins have agreed to a three-year deal with free agent closer Heath Bell who previously played for the San Diego Padres and is one of the biggest relief pitchers on the market.
The signing comes as part of the big boom that is hitting the Marlins. This is probably one of possible two more top stars that are going to be headed to South Beach for the 2012 season.

Another closer is off the market
Former Padres closer agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract with the Miami Marlins (still feels weird to type that) yesterday, taking yet another top closer off the market. The deal reportedly has a vesting option for a fourth year.
It's a slightly perplexing destination for Bell. Yes, the Marlins are getting more aggressive in free agency (and appear to be the...
