First off the Rockies have released righty reliever Justin Speier which didn’t come as much of a surprise. The Rockies then placed 4 pitchers on the 15-day disabled list. Lefty starter Jeff Francis, closer Huston Street, righty reliever Taylor Buchholz and righty starter/reliever Greg Reynolds will all start the 2010 season late. Francis has a case of left arm soreness and he will be replaced in the rotation by lefty Greg Smith who had a outstanding spring. Street has a case of shoulder stiffness and he has flown to Alabama to see Dr. James Andrews which is always a bit scary. Lefty Franklin Morales will replace Street as the closer until he is ready to return to action. Buchholz is still trying to rehab from the major surgery that kept him out the whole 2009 season. Reynolds has a elbow contusion. He will likely be the first player in this grounp to come off of the D.L.
