The Rockies have placed lefty reliever Franklin Morales on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder weakness. Morales has pitched in 12 games (0 starts) for the Rockies this season and he is 0-3 with 3 saves, a 4.09 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. Morales would have been replaced as the closer even if he wasn’t hurt because he was having a very hard time throwing strikes. Morales has walked 8 batters in only 11 innings for the Rockies and that’s way too many for a closer. 27-year old righty Manny Corpas will take over as the Rockies’ closer until Morales returns to action. Corpas has pitched in 14 games (0 starts) for the Rockies this season and he is 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. He has only given up 13 hits in 22 2/3 innings this season showing that his stuff is sharp right now. I think he will do a good job until Huston Street is ready to come off the D.L.
