The Rockies have signed 28-year old righty swinging outfielder Joe Mather to a minor league deal. Mather played in 36 games earlier this year and he was 16 for 75 (.213 avg, .578 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 1 homer and 9 RBIs. He has now played in 126 games in parts of three years in the majors and he is 61 for 268 (.228 avg, .667 OPS) with 31 runs scored, 9 homers, 30 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Mather might get a chance to help the Rockies later this year if he earns the chance by hitting well in the minors.
