The Fantasy Man's 2012 Fantasy Baseball Third Base 3B Rankings
1. Evan Longoria - I'm not a Longoria guy but he carries the least risk of the top 3
2. David Wright - No lineup protection but Mets moving fences in, if Ike healthy, Wright will be fine
3. Hanley Ramirez - Not sure if a move to 3B will spark or bust, can't be worse then he was last year
4. Adrian Beltre - I guess he legit now, might be a value as better #'s then Longoria, will be 33
5. Ryan Zimmerman - 27 and if he stays healthy, should be a beast
6. Pablo Sandoval - Was in shape in 2011 and was great, only 25, plenty of power upside
7. Alex Rodriguez - If he gets 500 AB and stays healthy, no reason he won't do .290/30/100/10
8. Kevin Youkilis - Gets injured every year but contributes to every category
9. Aramis Ramirez - New home in Milwaukee, should be a nice value at .290+/25/80+
10. Brett Lawrie - Superstar in the making but don't overpay, he's not the next Pujols
11. Ryan Roberts - 19HR/18SB in 2011 at age 31, not banking on a better season
12. David Freese - Injury risk makes Freese a sweet late round value, this dude can hit
13. Chase Headley - Has .290/10HR/20SB potential in SD, .290+/20/20/100R elsewhere if traded
14. Mike Moustakas - Came on strong in Sept, most upside at 3B late in draft in HR and RBI
15. Chone Figgins - So terrible in 2010 that he'll be a complete steal in 2011 at the end of the draft
16. Alberto Callaspo - Solid all around but doesn't do any one thing great, full season might get .290/10/10
17. Placido Polanco - If healthy, he'll pull in the same kind of numbers as Callaspo
18. Scott Rolen - Serviceable if healthy, solid BA and some dingers
19. Chipper Jones - Looks like it will be his last season
20. Chris Davis - Monster power, nice sleeper if he can put it together
21. Ty Wigginton - Multi position eligibility is nice, 15-20HR, low BA
22. Lonnie Chisenhall - Has ability to be an all-around type hitter, more upside
23. Pedro Alvarez - Ton of upside (power/rbi), must come into camp in shape so keep an eye on him
24. Edwin Encarnacion - Could play more a utility role, has 15-20HR power, 5-10SB, but inconsistent
25. Ian Stewart - New home in Chicago might help, loads of potential here
26. Chris Johnson - disappointing in 2011, will have to compete for starting job
27. Scott Sizemore - Turns 27, could net you 15HR/10SB over 500+ AB
28. Danny Valencia - Age 27, potentially 20+ HR power, could be a nice deep sleeper, .250ish BA
29. Brandon Inge - Good for one HR streak in the middle of the year
30. Brent Morel - He's more about the glove

Wright Staying Put? I Don’t Think So…
Rockies beat reporter Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, said via Twitter:
“My understanding is that the Mets will hold on to David Wright until the Trade Deadline,”
I’m not buying it one bit… As I felt and said all through the 2011 season – that the Mets would never re-sign Jose Reyes – I have that same feeling and even more so for David Wright...
Mets Stepping Up Efforts To Trade Wright?
Take this with a grain of salt. Chuck Johhnson of NY Baseball Digest just reported the following:
A number of sources are indicating the Mets are stepping up their attempts to move their only remaining moveable contract, that of David Wright. With Johan Santana once again shut-down and doubtful to be ready for Opening Day and Jason Bay owning a full-no trade clause, Wright...
New York Mets May Keep David Wright On Board Until Trade Deadline
I’ve been very outspoken about my desire for the New York Mets to trade David Wright and to obtain more key pieces for their rebuilding efforts. I’ve said several times that David Wright does the New York Mets no good at this point in time. There is just not enough talent in that lineup around him or in the pitching staff to turn the team into a contender. I wanted...
The Mets will hold on to Wright until Trade Deadline
“My understanding is that the Mets will hold on to David Wright until the Trade Deadline,” Rockies reporter Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post said on Twitter.
In the last week, as well as in this site’s previous post, there have been lots of rumors connecting the Mets and Rockies in trade talks, though there has never mention of Wright.
In October, Renck said that the...
Daniel Murphy Fourth in Seniority?
Talk about turnover. ESPN's Adam Rubin has a list of the Mets with the most seniority. Except for David Wright, hardly anyone remains who was with the Mets when they were a contending team. After Wright, the rest of the top ten is Mike Pelfrey, Johan Santana, Daniel Murphy, Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell, Fernando Martinez, Josh Thole, R.A. Dickey and Jason Bay.No wonder Wright is...
End of the Peak
David Wright turns 29 today. This is the last year of the age 27 centered peak for a ball player. Wright, in fact, peaked early, never again living up to his age 24 and 25 seasons. While Mets fans hope that David bounces back, he’s more likely to deliver four WAR than six. It’s too bad that such greatness at a young age didn’t carry through his peak years.
Are You Happy With Things?
As we get ready to close out another year and head into 2012, where do you stand as a Mets fan?
Are you happy with the direction of the team? Why?
How many games do you think the Mets will win in 2012? What about 2013?
Who are the core players of the Mets right now?
What do you think of this offseason so far?
How many starts will Johan Santana make in 2012?
Is David Wright still...
METS-CELLANEOUS
For some reason, I have centerfielders on my mind
All’s quiet in Flushing and according to Adam Rubin, it will stay quiet until the team meets in Port St. Lonsome. Seems the Mets are close to reaching their budget ceiling of $90Mil
The only thing that has me thinking the signing of Yu Darvish is a good move is that Nolan Ryan is running the Rangers and if he didn’t think Darvish...
