When I wrote about giving Ken Griffey the sendoff he deserved, Sunday's scene at Safeco Field was exactly what I imagined. Junior received a standing ovation before every at-bat, applause when he was pulled from the game after a single in the eighth and off-the-field transport from his teammates once the Mariners sealed a 4-3 win over Texas. Griffey responded with a few tips of the cap, a curtain call to the top of the dugout and by biting his bottom lip to stop from crying. Save for hitting a game-winning home run, it would have been hard for anyone to write a better ending for The Kid. Still, it remains uncertain if we just watched the final chapter of Griffey's legendary career. When asked by Seattle reporters if he'd like to play again in 2010, Griffey answered by saying "Um, yeah" before talking about choosing between family time with his three sons and coming back for a 22nd season.
